Impact Academy:

Orchid kicked off Impact Academy in 2021 and, by end of July 2022, the team had visited all nine of our U.S. locations. The purpose of Impact Academy is to connect employees to the impact that they have on our customers, the industry and patients, and help them understand how the products are used in surgeries.

The tour will continue in Europe in 2023!

3D Printing of Large Joint Implants:

This year, Orchid was focused on new technological advancements and innovation. In May 2022, Orchid announced a signed agreement with GE Additive to build additive manufacturing capability for scaleable and cost-effective large joint 3D printing.  Together, GE Additive and Orchid hosted two webinars discussing how to build a business case and how to leverage the benefits of 3D printing without sacrificing quality or performance and unlock efficiency with zero compromise.  If you happened to miss the webinars, they are available on demand.

Insights from a Surgeon at Orchid Leadership Meeting:

Orchid held a conference in Florida with approximately 80 company leaders. It was an opportunity to align the team to our strategy and priorities for 2022 and beyond, and for leaders from multiple sites and functions to learn how they can help and support each other to accelerate our growth.

Orchid welcomed Dr. Jovan Laskovski, MD, a hip arthroscopist, to share his perspectives as a surgeon and how Orchid plays a vital role in the industry.  He discussed the top three tenants of the importance of what our employees at Orchid do every day: Quality, Safety and On Time Delivery.  He shared some examples of what happens when a surgical product fails, and why what we do here at Orchid really matters!

He talked about finding inspiration in what you do. Take pride in your work, you never know how what you’re doing can impact those around you.  Surround yourself with greatness, show appreciation to your team and find that thing that drives you to get up and be great.

What We Do Matters

The Beverly Club:

In April, Orchid’s Oregon facility was visited by The Beverly Club, a group of women local to Oregon City (all named Beverly) who meet up each month to do something “fantastic, informative and fun” together. After learning more about Orchid, they said it was nice to know that there was an industry like Orchid in their community. It was so fun hosting this group and being a part of their adventures!

The Beverly Club has been together for close to 20 years and have had up to 30 members coming and going. They found each other through name recognition. They currently have 17 active members and are always looking for different activities to do each month. They have been to plays, shows, scavenger hunts, train trips to Tacoma to Chihuly Glass Museum, beach slumber parties and so many other fun places.

Community Engagement:

  • Oregon hosted a Christmas toy drive, collecting 145 toys and approximately $1,500 for Angles in the Outfield, an organization that provides gifts to children affected by abuse.
  • On Veteran’s Day, Alabama presented each veteran with a certification of appreciation and a gift card to thank them for their service.
  • Arcadia and Detroit both hosted walks for breast cancer awareness in October.
  • Chelsea employees participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser in Jackson, MI, raising $2,130 for the cause.
  • Our Human Resources Team painted murals for a local charity called Foundation for Hospital Art. They were donated to a dentist office and school.

We want to thank all Orchid employees for their hard work this past year and for continuing to go above and beyond to help make Orchid a world leader in the orthopedic industry. We are excited to see what we will accomplish in 2023!
