Orchid Joins SHRM Foundation’s HR Registered Apprenticeship Program

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions joined the SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) Foundation’s HR Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP) to expand the HR talent pool, build a more skilled, diverse workforce, and to invest in continued education for its HR team members.

Orchid Joins SHRM Foundation’s HR Registered Apprenticeship Program

With support from the U.S. Department of Labor, the SHRM Foundation developed and launched the HR RAP in February 2021 to help individuals enter the field of HR. The program, which comes amid increasing interest in registered apprenticeships and their proven success in meeting the needs of employers, will help develop the next generation of diverse HR professionals by allowing individuals to earn wages while receiving hands-on training to successfully fill the high-skilled, in-demand HR specialist positions of today.

“Registered apprenticeship programs are a proof point that demonstrates an employers’ commitment to investing in their staff and the organization at large. By bringing new talent into the HR profession, it shows a commitment to HR, professional development, and building a diverse, inclusive workplace,” said Wendi Safstrom, Executive Director of the SHRM Foundation. “The SHRM Foundation is thrilled to work with Orchid to cultivate a new generation of diverse HR professionals with the skills and resources needed to support, manage and lead in the 21st century workplace.”

Sharon Richmond, HR Manager, Paula Kilgore, HR Manager, Sonia Campos, HR Admin, Angie Fung, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist and John Hayes, Operations Manager will be completing the HR RAP with the mentorship of Rebecca Spada-Gasieski, HR Manager, Derick Chavarria, HR Manager, Jessica Stout, HR Director, Talent Management & Talent Acquisition, and Lauren Maceri, HR Director, Operations.

“We are excited to bring this talent development model into our organization to continue increasing the skillset of our HR team members,” said Lauren Maceri, HR Director, Operations.  “The combination of customized coursework and on-the-job training will provide our team with the HR skills needed to support Orchid’s mission of helping people around the world live a longer, active life.”

The SHRM Foundation's HR RAP leverages SHRM's signature educational programming, aligned to its competency model and credentials, to cultivate HR leaders who will be equipped to manage and lead with innovation and insight. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will be prepared and eligible to take the exam for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
