Ken Altman, Director of Advanced Manufacturing (Machining Division)

Mr. Altman started with Orchid Bridgeport, formally Unique Instruments in 1988. Throughout his career he has held several positions including, CNC Programmer/Operator, Process Engineer, Product Development Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Engineering and Process Development Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University.


Mary Callaghan, Corporate Controller

Ms. Callaghan joined Orchid in 1995 as Controller for Orchid Lansing and was promoted to Corporate Controller in January 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Davenport University.

John Hakola, Director, Accounting

Mr. Hakola joined Orchid in October of 2012 as a member of the finance department and was promoted to Director, Accounting in September of 2014. Prior to joining Orchid, he began his career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, mainly servicing SEC registrants in the medical device and life sciences industries. Mr. Hakola is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) in Michigan and Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting and an M.B.A. from Ohio University.


Woody Hines, Director of Operational Excellence (Machining Division)

Mr. Hines joined the Orchid team when Sandvik Medical Solutions (SMS) sold all SMS locations to Orchid in March 2012. Mr. Hines has more than 25 years of medical, automotive, aerospace and heat exchanger manufacturing experience. He started implementing lean in the late 1980s and since that time certified as a master black belt in Six Sigma. Mr. Hines has been an Engineering Manager, Quality Manager, Director of Quality, VP of Operations and VP of Manufacturing. Mr. Hines is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri, has his BSME from Christian Brothers University of Memphis, TN and his MBA from Union University of Jackson, TN.


Nils Hordon, Director of Global Supply Chain 

Mr. Hordon joined Orchid in October 2014 with more than 15 years of supply chain experience. Most recently, he was the Global Sourcing Manager at ITT Corporation. Prior to that, he held various positions of increasing responsibilities with Beckman Coulter and Black & Decker. Mr. Hordon spent eight years as an Officer in the Marine Corps and has earned a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego, an MBA from National University of California and a BS in Business Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is CPM certified and Lean Six Sigma-Black Belt Certified through ITT & University of Michigan.


Mark Mundy, Director of Operational Excellence (Implant Division)

Mr. Mundy joined Orchid in July 2015. Mr. Mundy is an organizational, cultural and lean change agent with more than 30 years of Manufacturing & Operations Management, Materials, Logistics and Operational Excellence experience. Most recently, Mr. Mundy was the Continuous Improvement Manager for a leading manufacturer for the energy, transportation and industrial markets where he led a multiple plant lean transformation. Prior to that, he held various positions of increasing responsibility and leadership at the company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management and a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Josh Thompson, CPA, Director, Financial Reporting & Analysis

Mr. Thompson joined Orchid in October 2011 to help automate and improve the financial reporting systems as Orchid expanded to become the global company it is today. Prior to joining Orchid, he began his professional career in public accounting spending 7 years with Plante Moran where he provided auditing, tax, and consulting services to mid-sized businesses in the manufacturing, construction, and education industries. He has been a licensed certified public accountant in the state of Michigan since 2006. Mr. Thompson holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration degree with dual majors in Accounting and Corporate Finance from Central Michigan University.
